Ursula Renold awarded title of ETH Professor

Ursula Renold has been appointed Full Professor of Education Systems by the ETH Board. This was decided by the Board at its meeting on 11-12 December 2019. She will take up her new position on 1 January 2020.

Since April 2013, Prof. Dr. Ursula Renold (*1961) has been head of the research division Education Systems at the KOF. With her team of ten, she investigates what shifts are taking place in educational systems in light of globalisation, an aging society and the breakneck evolution of technologies. She also examines the characteristics of the world’s most effective educational systems. During her many years’ service as Director of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology, Ursula Renold has made a substantial contribution to the expansion of the Swiss vocational and professional education system and the universities of applied sciences.

Drawing on her experience in translational research, Prof. Dr. Renold has contributed to the evaluation and development of education systems in a number of countries. Among other things, she founded the Center on the Economics and Management of Education and Training Systems (CEMETS), a reform lab for education and training systems worldwide. At ETH Zurich, Ursula Renold will be responsible for developing a Center on the Economics and Management of Education and Training Systems.
