Data Panel Surveys
Data on innovative activities are collected regularly (every third year) with the KOF corporate panel. In addition, data on various aspects of the stuctural change in the Swiss economy are collected sporadically (approx. once a year). Until now such data have focused on the use of information and communications technologies, on organisational change in the companies surveyed, on workforce skills, on the internationalisation of the Swiss economy as well as on company start-ups.
Innovation Surveys
The KOF has been conducting an innovation survey at three yearly intervals on behalf of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (SECO) since 1990. The purpose of this survey is firstly to assess the levels of innovation capability of the Swiss economy (descriptive analysis), secondly to derive conclusions for economic policy (normative analysis), and thirdly to make a contribution to the scientific explanation of the innovative process on the basis of the data collected (explicative analysis).
The data are collected from an extensive poll of the firms in the KOF corporate panel. The results of the analyses that are conducted on the basis of the innovation survey data are published in a final report. This report is published on the homepage of the SECO and as a KOF Study. A summary of this report is available electronically in German and French (see information on the individual statistics).
