International Business Cycles

The International Economics Section analyses and forecasts the general international economic framework with which Switzerland as a small open economy is confronted. The Section produces a quarterly in-depth forecast of current economic trends and interest rates, exchange rates and inflation trends for the global economy with an emphasis on markets in the EU, the USA and East Asia. This is used as the basis for the KOF forecasts of Swiss economic development and is published separately as KOF International Forecasts.

In addition, the Section provides an in-depth analysis of current economic issues in the international environment and represents the KOF at the “Association d'Instituts Européens de Conjoncture Economique” (AIECE) and at the “joint diagnosis” undertaken by the economic research institutes in the German-speaking area.

The International Economics Section is affiliated to the Economics Section. You will find more information about the field of research into economic activity here: Research Division Business Cycles.
