Economic Policy

The Economic Policy Section follows, analyses and provides commentary on economic policy issues with particular emphasis on Swiss concerns.

The focal points are the Swiss National Bank’s monetary policy and the fiscal policy of government budgets. The focal points of research in the field of monetary policy are inflationary expectations as well as communication with central banks. Fiscal policy is concerned with assessing the possibilities of and requirements for national economic measures.

The labour market is another focal point primarily concerned with the critical analysis of labour market trends (employment and unemployment). In-depth analyses of specific aspects of labour market and pay trends are conducted as well.

As part of its quarterly economic forecasts, the KOF prepares the section on inflation forecasts, public finance trends in Switzerland and the main labour market variables.

You will find further information about the field of research into economic activity here: Research Division Business Cycles
