KOF Micro Data Center

For a number of important economic questions, access to micro data is indispensable to obtain meaningful empirical results. The term "micro data" describes data stemming from individual companies, rather than data aggregated at the level of geographical units or economic branches.

Since at KOF we are committed to protecting the confidentiality of data obtained from companies participating in our surveys, the KOF Micro Data Center enables external researchers to get access to such micro data, subject to certain restrictions. Most importantly:

• Micro data can only be accessed at workstations dedicated for this purposes and located in our premises. Standard software for econometric and statistic analysis (Stata® and R) is available on these workstations.
• Only anonymised data (containing no company names or addresses or fragments thereof) is provided.
• Publication of results obtained from using this data requires permission from KOF. This is just to ensure that confidentiality is respected, and by no means intended to restrict the freedom of research of external data users.

Currently, micro data obtained from surveys based on the ist available through this service. The use of the Micro Data Center is free of charge for strictly research purposes.
